Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the pricing data come from? ▼
Our data is compiled from publicly available sources including Ontario contractor associations, HomeStars, Jiffy, and market research. Prices are adjusted for regional cost-of-living differences across Ontario cities. This is directional guidance, not a guarantee of market rates.
Should I raise my prices if I'm undercharging? ▼
Not necessarily overnight. Start by raising prices for new customers by 10-15%. If you're still booking jobs easily, raise again. The market will tell you when you've hit the ceiling. Most contractors are surprised how much more they can charge.
Why do GTA prices differ from Niagara? ▼
Higher cost of living, more competition, and customers with larger budgets. GTA contractors can typically charge 15-30% more than Niagara for the same work. But Niagara costs are rising fast as the region grows.
Does experience justify higher prices? ▼
Absolutely. Experienced contractors work faster, make fewer mistakes, and provide better warranties. Customers pay for certainty. A 15+ year contractor can justifiably charge 20-30% more than someone in their first 3 years.
How often does the data update? ▼
We review and update pricing data quarterly. The current dataset reflects 2025-2026 Ontario market conditions including post-pandemic pricing adjustments and inflation impacts.
